| APN+ MSM Working Group |
| |
| Positive MSM Working Group of APN+ was launched at the beginning of 2007. The first regional meeting of the Working Group was held in Bangkok on the weekend (3rd & 4th March 2007), prior to the APN+ AGM and Training Days. The meeting was attended by 17 participants from 10 countries in the Asia Pacific Region. Participants were either country representatives to APN+ or people linked to APN+, who all had a strong interest in positive MSM issues. As of September 2007 the APN+ MSM Working Group has 24 members from 13 countries. The International HIV/AIDS Alliance has agreed to financially support our working group for 2007. |

| Aim |
| |
|
To form a working group of interested APN+ members to identify and explore issues related to MSM who are living with HIV in the region, develop strategic interventions and. advocate on behalf of the APN+ MSM Working Group on emerging issues. |
| |
| Workplan 2007 |
| |
| The MSM Working Group will follow a Workplan developed from the meeting in March and endorsed by members of the working group and approved by the APN+ Steering Committee. The annual Workplan lists activities to be implemented during 2007 which will be consistent with APN+ Strategic Plan 2006-2010 Objectives. The main areas we intend to address during 2007 are:
- Advocacy and collaborations: such as with Purple Sky (Mekong) Network, APCOM and AP Rainbow;
- Research: positive MSM focus groups in four countries. Read summery report of the Focus Group Discussion click
- Capacity building for positive MSM: skills training for our members;
- Communications: e-group for members;
- Resource development: positive MSM information resources;
- Positive MSM activities at ICAAP8 (Sri Lanka August 2007): presentation, skills building workshop and satellite meeting.

| Beyond 2007 |
| |
|
2007 is seen as a ‘start-up’ year for the APN+ MSM Working Group. The year will allow the Working Group to implement its Workplan activities such as identifying and exploring issues of relevance to positive MSM, develop strategic collaborations and develop a strong membership base. Towards the end of 2007 the Working Group will develop ideas for future objectives and activities and explore possible sources of financial support.
We would welcome contact from other people in the Asia Pacific Region interested in joining us to address the issues affecting positive MSM. |
