ASIA PACIFIC NETWORK OF PEOPLE

The Annual General Meeting of APN+ took place in Bangkok on February 7th 2007 at the Hotel Rembrandt. The previous one was held in February 2006. Advantage was taken of the opportunity to hold the AGM at the same time at a capacity building training, APN+ MSM working group meeting and field test for the Alliance’s networking toolkit. Thanks to UNIAIDS and HIV/AIDS Alliance for their funding support that allowed this meeting to take place.

Over 40 Board Members, Representatives, Advisors and associates from 20 countries attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by the two co-chairs, Mr. Noel Quinto and Ms. Naoko Kawana.

Noel and Naoko reported on different representative roles played including the UN Meeting, Toronto conference, ITPC meetings and reproductive rights conference. They noted that at these meetings their role was to circulate information about the APN+ network and increase awareness about the APN+ network and activities. Naoko requested that whenever the co-chairs ask for ideas and support for work they are doing for APN+ that network members respond by contributing ideas.

Shiba Phurailatpam, Regional Coordinator, reported on the progress of the current projects and financial status. AGM were agreed, the financial statements accepted, it was time to move to the key business of day, that of electing the office bearers, APN+ representatives to various organizations and appointment of the advisors.
